Development Year

Holiday Road Trip Email Header (2).png

The Rugby program was designed and developed as a gap year for young rugby players between the ages of 18 and 20. The need for such a program was identified after 20 years of rugby development in South Africa and internationally. The development year after school is the most important year for a player that has not been contracted as professional player. The holistic development of each individual from being an aspiring professional player to not making it into the elite groups will help the player to handle the positive and negative of being a professional rugby player, it also benefits each individual for the same journey in life.

Being involved at tertiary institutions for more than 15 years we also understand that not everyone is not destined to study at a tertiary institutions or become a lawyer or doctor.

We have seen that most young men need a year of guidance to decide in which direction their new chapter in life would start.

The program uses a very thought trough process that would not only help young people to bridge the gap between education and a career, but will also assist them in discovering their potential and coach them in the skills to release their gifting and leadership.

This process integrates experiential learning, team building, life skills, community work and adventure learning to bring perspective over the individual’s past, present and future in the area of the holistic development and equipping them for the most important matters in life.

Most young rugby playing men dreams of becoming a professional rugby player. BUT,
• If they do not make it. What Then?
• What are they going to do?

This is what makes us Unique:
• After 1 year in our development program he then will have had the best opportunity’s to make it as a professional player / or in the process in becoming one.
• He will also know what he wants to do with the rest of his life if he finishes the program.

The program focus on the following topics in a year:
• Emotional Intelligence
• Inner Healing(how to handle pain/past/future)
• Leadership Development
• Character Development
• Relationships
• Life Skills
• Financial Week
• Career guidance
